CAREERFLEX SERVICE DISCLOSURE AND INFORMED CONSENT
Please read carefully before engaging services.
Jake Freeman provides two distinct categories of service. Which category applies to you depends on both the nature of the work and your physical location at the time of service. It is important that you understand this distinction, as it affects your legal protections.
1. CLINICAL THERAPY SERVICES — MONTANA RESIDENTS ONLY
Jake Freeman is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Montana only (License #BBH-LMFT-LIC-87707, Montana Board of Behavioral Health).
Clinical therapy services can only be provided to individuals physically located in Montana at the time of service, in accordance with state licensing law. Like most mental health licenses, LMFT licensure does not cross state lines — Jake Freeman is not authorized to diagnose or treat mental health conditions for clients located outside Montana, regardless of where the client resides.
When clinical services are provided to a Montana-based client, this includes:
- Diagnosis and treatment of mental health and relational conditions
- Protections under Montana licensing law and HIPAA
- Clinical documentation maintained in a HIPAA-compliant record system
- Confidentiality under therapist-client privilege, with standard legal exceptions (mandatory reporting, imminent danger, court order)
If you are not physically located in Montana, clinical therapy services are not available to you through Careerflex, regardless of intent or prior residency.
2. ARCHETYPAL CONSULTING SERVICES — AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE
For all clients outside Montana, and for any client seeking leadership, organizational, or individual work outside a clinical framework, Jake Freeman provides Archetypal Consulting — a non-clinical service grounded in systems thinking, behavioral structure, and archetypal/psychological frameworks (Jungian, mythopoetic, and organizational development models).
This includes: Immersion Intensive, Leadership Intensive, Organizational Strategy Intensive, and Individual Intensive services as described elsewhere on this site.
Archetypal Consulting is explicitly NOT:
- Psychotherapy, diagnosis, or treatment of any mental health condition
- Protected by therapist-client privilege or HIPAA
- A substitute for licensed mental health care
- Billable to health insurance
Archetypal Consulting draws on psychological literacy and clinical training but is delivered as a business and personal development consulting service, not as regulated mental health treatment, regardless of the client’s location — including within Montana, if the client and Jake Freeman agree the engagement is consulting rather than clinical in nature.
3. HOW THIS IS DETERMINED
- If you are located in Montana and are seeking treatment for a mental health or relational condition, you may be eligible for clinical therapy services. This will be explicitly confirmed in writing before your first clinical session.
- If you are located outside Montana, or you are seeking leadership, organizational, or behavioral consulting rather than clinical treatment, your engagement will be structured as Archetypal Consulting.
- Jake Freeman will clarify in writing, before any engagement begins, which category applies to you.
If you require diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition and are not located in Montana, Careerflex will not provide this service. You should seek a licensed mental health provider in your state.

- You understand the distinction between Montana-based clinical therapy and Archetypal Consulting
- You have disclosed your physical location accurately
- You have been informed in writing which service category applies to your engagement
- If receiving Archetypal Consulting, you understand this is not psychotherapy and is not a substitute for licensed mental health treatment
